 Go back 5 years and we were meeting at the rather sedate time of 7.30am - a good lay-in by today's standards!

This year it was a shocking 05:45 when the organisers pulled into the car park; but this year was something special; this year was our tenth birthday; this year we had more players than ever before; this year we had no champion to tee off.... what?!!!!

Sad though it is, our 2007 champion had a wedding to attend. However this didn't stop us getting him to tee off in The Grim Jacket a day early - and gave him a taste of his own medicine!

It was imperative that players arrived at the allotted time of 6am, this was so we could ensure that there was plenty of time to get everyone started. So while the organisers wish to thank nearly all of you for early morning efforts, we must question the time keeping of Richard (don't call me Dickie) Jubb and Ian (Paddy) Dunston - both arriving an hour late. This is somewhat of an achievement for Mr J. as the distance to travel (as the crow flies) is under 1/4 mile. Since Paddy can be considered a newly wed, he has an excuse at least for this year!

Newbie's to the event this year being Roger Paton, Bob Bannister, Mike Ramm & Lee Hayward. They were joined by one Kevin Ansell, who'd gone and bought some bats; possibly an errant late night bid on eBay?

This year, our (missing) champion had selected that delightful morning pick-me-up, Kummel to go with the bacon butties. At least with the special commemorative glasses it tasted better and indeed some returned for seconds.

And so, with little delay, Mark gave the morning intro from his new perch - thanks Wal!

The draw for the order of play threw up some interesting groupings to say the least! The most interesting being the pairing of Dickie & Dodge as there had been some interesting discussions regarding respective handicaps prior to the event. Once the groups had been organised we each set about propelling a small ball as far as possible in a straight line in our own unique way...

   
The starting group (minus the missing Tredgy) was Mark Springham, Ed Coombs & Ian Rydings

   
Followed by Wayne Morris, Paul Gillan & Neville Baldwin

   
Paul Dover, Matt Bright & Mark Fennell made up the 3rd group

   
4th away were Mike Ramm, Mark Downey & Kevin Ansell

   
The 5th group comprised Kevin Appleyard, Rob Barr & Keith Etheridge

   
Next off were Matthew Dawkes, Martin Strickland & Richard Trett

   
Richard Jubb & Paul Fennel were kept apart by Wally Pitman

   
In the 8th group were Roger Paton, Ken Sullivan & Alan Dawkes

   
In the penultimate group were Lee Hayward, Kelvin Lucking & Ian Dunston

   
Bringing up the rear were fellow Linfordians Dave Springham & Ron Dobinson,
accompanied by Bob Bannister
